​Applications are now open for the University of Geneva Excellence Master Fellowship 2026! This prestigious program is established by the Faculty of Science to support outstanding students from around the world who wish to pursue a Master’s degree in scientific disciplines.

​The fellowship is strictly merit-based and aims to promote academic excellence. It supports students pursuing Master’s programs in Astrophysics, Biology, Neuroscience, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Earth Sciences, and Environmental Sciences.

Fellowship Benefits

The University of Geneva Excellence Fellowship provides financial support to allow students to focus entirely on their research and studies:

  • Annual Grant: A stipend ranging from CHF 10,000 to CHF 15,000 per year.
  • Duration: Awarded for one year, extendable for the entire duration of the Master’s program (3 or 4 semesters) based on satisfactory academic performance.

  • No Teaching Duties: Fellows are not required to take on teaching assistant duties, allowing full focus on research.
  • No Application Fee: There is no fee to apply for the fellowship itself.

Eligibility Criteria

This is a highly competitive fellowship. To apply, you must meet the following strict criteria:

  • Academic Excellence: You must be among the top 10% of your graduating bachelor's class.
  • Education: You must have completed your Bachelor’s degree or expect to complete it within 6 months of the Master’s start date.
  • Admission: You must meet the specific admission requirements for your chosen Master's program at UNIGE.
  • Status: Students already enrolled in a Master’s program at the UNIGE Faculty of Science are not eligible.

How to Apply

The application process involves both admission to the university and the fellowship application:

  1. Apply for Admission: You must first start the enrollment procedure for a Master's program at UNIGE to receive a student number or a "UNIGE-Candidature" confirmation email.
  2. Register Online: Register on the fellowship portal to receive a personal application link.
  3. Prepare Documents: Compile all required documents into a single PDF file.
  4. Submit: Upload your file and submit the application online.
