Applications are now open for the European Parliament Sakharov Fellowship 2026! This is a prestigious fully funded opportunity for human rights defenders from outside the EU.

​Organized by the European Parliament, this two-week intensive training program will take place in Brussels and another EU Member State from 7–20 June 2026. The fellowship aims to empower 14 selected activists by providing them with training on EU policies, advocacy, and security, while connecting them with European decision-makers.

Eligibility Criteria

This program is specifically for human rights defenders. To apply, you must:

  • Nationality: Be a national of a non-EU country.
  • Experience: Have a proven record of advocating for human rights (individually or with an NGO).
  • Language: Have a high level of proficiency in English (the training is in English).
  • Availability: Be available to travel to Europe from 7–20 June 2026.
